Light-Filled, Energy-Efficient Outhouse Design in Nmaham

We originally completed the design of the main house in 2010, with construction concluding in 2018. Located at Narhman in Accra, it serves as a welcoming home for a family of five during their visits to Ghana.

Recently, Shiela approached us with a new challenge—to create a dramatic and exciting outhouse for family use, but with a remarkably tight budget. A passionate advocate for natural light and energy efficiency, she tasked us with delivering a design that was both visually compelling and environmentally conscious.

This concept, one of several we explored, stands out as our favourite. It combines creativity with practicality, using clever spatial planning, strategic openings for light, and sustainable design elements to meet both aesthetic and budgetary goals. The result is a compact yet striking addition to the property that complements the existing home while serving the evolving needs of the family.
